Day 8 Part 1
FRIDAY
Good morning to you moms, dads, and friends,
Our room’s wake up call came at 4:55 am today and believe it or not the sun was already up. One of the chaperones said maybe we should travel to the arctic circle! They are such comedians.
I want to share with you how absolutely phenomenal our parent chaperones have been. You know how you feel when your children have friends that spend a night or a weekend with you? How you need to make sure all is good? These parents have taken care of so many needs and have done it happily. Our first priority is making sure your child is safe. It only took about 24 hours for the kids to get it!!!!!! They honestly are enjoying being with our very colorful adults.
This hotel was so wonderful to us!!!! They provided breakfast for our group at 6am this morning!!!! AND WHAT A BREAKFAST! I’m so proud of our kids and their consumption of chocolate bread. You know that it is actually a puffed square shaped croissant filled with just the right amount of chocolate. Outstanding. We’ll have to see what the English come up with for our breakfast….
We all have our passports in hand. We have filled out our entry cards for the UK. We all have our passports……I’m hopeful they will not lose them between now while we are on the bus and when we go through passport control. Hopeful!!!!!!
Sitting in traffic on the way into Brussels. I am so glad that we left when we did. It is now 8 am and our train departs at 9:59….. We will make it….just hoping all 90 of us won’t need to find a WC at the same time. Imagine a family vacation with 90! Getting a clear picture of this?
.
Traffic gone. Moving again!
While sitting on the bus we are always planning the next step. Tomorrow’s forecast is rain in buckets. We will try to do all of our touring via motor coach. The tower of London is first on the list. The boys will really like this. The changing of the guard does not take place in the pouring rain so a trip to harrod’s may be plan b. I’m sure the girls and moms will love it!
When I sit here and think back to ALL that we have done I am totally amazed. I cannot believe that a week ago we were in Paris. Seems ages ago. And that long plane ride has long been forgotten!! Our day of travel back to the US will be one very long adventure but I am confident we will do it and do it well.
Again, once we get on the buses in Detroit the cell phones will be turned on and calls will be made home. If you get a call and want to call other families that will be great. We are planning now that if AF gets in before Lufthansa or vice versa that we will get on the bus and wait for the others. I really want us all together for the drive home. however, this could change. Flexibility!!!!!!
Almost to the train station. Will try to blog tonight when we get to the hotel. However we won’t be getting there until after the show around 11 pm. Forgive me in advance if I am not able to post this evening.
Have a great day. I know all of us will! Memories to be made.
