Day Five on the Morning of Day Six ON THE BUS!
Day Five on the Morning of Day Six ON THE BUS!
Thanks to Victor Harris for bringing his laptop along….sitting on the bus on the way to Madrid. Let me tell you, this is THE nicest bus we have ever traveled on….leather seats just like a sports car, black with red leather headrests. Beautiful.
Had a 6:00 wake up call…way too early for me! We had breakfast at 7:00 and on the bus by 7:30…..all 88 of us. The breakfasts at this hotel were incredible. Ask the kids about the chocolate croissants that came right from the oven and the orange juice.
Yesterday, I have think! Oh, yes, on the bus at 9:00 for a 30 minute drive to Sagunto. Google image this place.. A great HIKE up the hill to the Roman Ruins. And I mean HIKE! You should have seen all of our gorgeous ladies hiking straight to the top. NO whining at all. They have been wonderful. The view from the top was as you can imagine. ( Fill in your own adjective as I feel all I have used is wonderful, incredible, awesome, fantastic!) Then down the hill to the ancient Roman ampitheater where we just HAD to break into song. PERFECT acoustics. Had to be on the bus at noon and at 11:40 we discovered the most wonderful local ceramics store. Let me just say that in 20 minutes our group spent enough of our Euros to cover the man’s rent for the next month….I’m not joking. J
Back to the bus and then to the BEACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All of our little SCSS were in the Mediterranean….would I have ever thought????? It was a Sunday at about 1:00 and all of Valencia was there, too. Did that bother us???? NO WAY! Paul Alexander was like the camp counselor of the Mediterranean flipping people, etc. You can form your own mental picture! J J J Don’t worry moms and dads, lots of sunscreen was used. No issues! We had one hour of fun in the sun and then back to the bus for a short drive to the Oceanographico. You should google this place, too! We were there for THREE hours and saw some incredible species. For those of you who have been to Sea World Monterrey Bay Aquarium and the Shedd in Chicago just think 13 acres of all of those combined and THEN some! Everyone loved it.
Back on the bus to the hotel. The group had a chance to go swimming in the Olympic sized indoor pool. Only one glitch…..the hotel management insisted on swim caps…now when was the last time you knew of people traveling with swim caps that weren’t on the swim team! Being the resourceful people that we are when we are abroad, Victor Harris went to the front desk and charmed about 50 shower caps from this sweet young thing at the front desk. Are you laughing yet????? Our lifeguards, Kevin Kreiner and Lee Pittman, also adorned in these fashion statements, were very careful to take care of our kids. The hotel lifeguard was extremely complimentary of our group! The kids had a great time and Michael Pohl even got a few laps in! Always a story to tell!
Dinner at the hotel for all of us…Chicken or chicken???!!! Very well done! AND THE DESSERT….crepes with whipped cream and chocolate. Complete with hearts as plate art.
Lights out at 10:30, seriously! Remember —- wake up call at 6:00. Everyone was packed and ready to go!
Once we get to Madrid today they will have free time for lunch and then at 2:00 we will be touring the ROYAL PALACE of Spain. Yes, google image this as well. It is spectacular!
That’s it for today. THANKS for reading! Our days are speeding by. We’ll be home before you know it. Thanks, moms and dads!!!!!
