So much better

Bon jour!!!!I don’t think EATALY will ever be the same after our SCSS visit! We arrived into town without any problem at all. Drove right up to their door 3 minutes prior to their opening. Perfect!!!! The Lavazza coffee bar got my first dollars. Cappuccino and an apricot croissant. Delish! See photo! Everyone explored with their travel chaperone and definitely found something to eat……and more. Neil and I had a great visit with our 29 year old youngest son and his delightful girlfriend, Belinda. (A SCSS 2005 alumna!) Just wait….your children will be this age, too! Like I always say….enjoy every minute! At one point I wondered if everyone would spend all $25! Not a problem. 😀 Now SITTING in delightful CHICAGO traffic trying to get on my all time favorite, DAN RYAN EXPRESSWAY! 😁😁😁All good, moms and dads! Later!!!! Gartner and her favorites Bon jour!!!!I don’t think EATALY will ever be the same after our SCSS visit! We arrived into town without any problem at all. On the plane!

Hello, All!   We are now above 10,000 feet.  My device is activated and the adventure begins.  We had a very smooth check in.  Thank you to Courtney from Bob Rogers Travel who was waiting for us at O’Hares International Terminal.  She had communicated with Alitalia that we were en route from downtown Chicago and reminded them that we took up a third of the plane!  They were delightful. In addition, all of our adult travel chaperones did an outstanding job of gathering their students, assisting at the check in counter, walked with them to and through passport control and TSA.  No problems.   Headed to gate with plenty of time before boarding time.  A bit of a delay but no real problems.  On board now and everyone is settling in.  Many are plugged in, snacking, reading, quietly chatting and my seatmate taking a little dropped jaw snooze!  A unique experience in that there were real time cameras so that everyone could watch takeoff.  Well, everyone who had seat entertainment screens that worked……not the Gartners!  Oh well, guess we will talk instead.  😀 The kids are loving this AND they look so nice.    Nine hour flight, connect in Rome after passport control then short flight to Nice where we will meet Caro and then I really will relax!  Lunch on our own in Nice (with chaperones not a designated lunch location)  and then to the hotel.  Almost 48 hours straight!  We can do it!    I see four chaperones totally out!  Can’t see kids heads because they are totally out!  One of the quietest flights I have ever... read more

On the way!

Thank you, moms and dads, for being on time this morning!  We were able to depart EARLY!  I always use that as an indicator of a successful trip – people that can be EARLY!   A quiet ride to north of Indy rest stop.  In and out of there in 17 minutes!  Oh yes!  This is going to be a GREAT trip.  And we were some of THE best dressed people to have ever descended upon that rest stop!!!!! Just passed all the windmills in northern Indiana.  Always quite a sight to see.   Everyone is pretty animated on US BUS 1!  I’m sure the same on US BUS 2! EATALY cards have all been distributed.  We will be ready for a great lunch.   Again, thank you for allowing your child to have this experience!   Will share more every time I have wifi. ... read more
